Effects of pre-compaction and dewatering on dynamic consolidation of soft subsoil

  • Based on the test results obtained in an experimental area of dynamic consolidation in an airport extending project, the effects of pre-compaction and dewatering on the dynamic consolidation were analyzed. The functions of these measures and the mechanism of dynamic consolidation of soft soils were also discussed herein. This experimental study indicates that the measures of pre-compaction and dewatering have positive effects on the dynamic consolidation improvement; the key to improve saturated clayey soil by dynamic consolidation is providing drainage channel for excessive pore water pressure occurred in the process of impacts, the mechanism of tapping improvement in saturated clayey soil is consolidation under the dynamic influence.
