Visco-elastic transmitting boundary for numerical analysis of infinite saturated soil foundation

More Information
  • Published Date: December 14, 2006
  • In order to simulate the infinite domain,a special boundary condition should be used in the dynamic analysis of saturated soil foundation with the finite element method.Based on the Biot’s consolidation theory,a visco-elastic transmitting boundary was proposed, which could be used in dynamic analysis of saturated porous media in the time domain.Numerical results showed that the proposed boundary could simulate the influence of far field and did not have the problem of low-frequency instability. The efficiency and applicability of the proposed transmitting boundary were also discussed.
