Abstract

Abstract

The accuracy of 1-D elastic wave propagation problem by explicit Newmark scheme is studied. Numerical examples for stepped loading and triangular loading with rise time, shown that the proposed explicit Newmark scheme with numerical damping is an effective way to improve the accuracy of FEM for wave propagation problems.
