  • In this paper, the basic conception of fractal geometry is introduced, three methods of its application to practical problems concluded and proposed. The applications of fractal geometry to pore geometry of rock and soil materials, rock fragments, damage and fracture of rocks, and roughness of jointing rocks are then discussed in detail. Fractal geometry provides a new powerful appoach for the in--vestigation of complicated mechanics problems of rock and soil materials.
