Abstract
The primary aim of this paper is to discuss the application of the upper bound technigue of limit analysis with a general non-linear failure criterion to stability problems. The combination of limit analysis method with the limit equilibrium method is made to obtain a least upper solution. Earthquake coefficients are introduced in order to investigate slope stability under seismic conditions. Inverse solution procedure is employed because of its simplicity. The results, critical heights of the slopes are presented in terms of stability factors. Parametric study of soil strength and earthquake coefficient are also made. The comparison of numerical results with those of centrifuge model test in the literature shows a good agreement.
