Quantitative  Assessment  of  Changes  of  Microstructure  for  Clayey  Soil  in  the  Process  of  Compaction

More Information
  • Published Date: July 19, 1996
  • Using  Videolab  Image  Processing  System,  the  microstructural  changes  of  clayey  soil  in  the  process  of  compaction  are  quantitatively  assessed      These  quantitative  indexes  include  void  ratio,  average  size,  average form    factor,  the  distribution  of  orientation  angles,  main  orientation  angle  and  anistropy  etc      A  new  quantitative    index    probability  entropy  is  proposed  for  assessing  the  ordering  extent  of  microstructural  units      Finally,  the  mechanisms  of  compacting  properties  of  clayey  soil  are  analysed  according  to  the  quantitative  results
