Concrete-faced rockfilll dams have been rapidly developed. Dam construction using soft-rock is a new problem of CFRD. Soft-rock covers over 50% of earth-surface rock, so the research on the technique of soft-rock placement has extensive prospect and great economic benefit. Based on the practices of three real projects——Yutiao, Da’ao and Qiezishan, the paper introduces their field compaction experimentation, the comprehensive analysis of the results, and the measures to improve the placement quality and to reduce the crusting of cracked soft-rocks. All of the experiences obtained from the research may be of greatly beneficial reference for the similar projects since then.
