Abstract

Finite element analysis of negative skin friction on a steel pile in Hong Kong is presented in this paper.Goodman’s interface elements together with Duncan-Chang’s model and Modified Cambridge model are used.The calculated results agree well with field measurements. The neceasity for considering elastoplastic behaviors of soilcoupled with interface elements in the analysis of negative skin friction on piles is demonstrated.
