Design and Construction of Pile Foundations for Generating Hall in the First Stage of Construction of Changshu Power Plant

The design of pile foundations adopted for the generating hall and turbo-generator’s stand inthe first stage of construction of Changshu Power Plant,Changshu city,Jiangsu province are described inthis article,including the selection of bearing stratum,measures to be used for increasing the rigidity offoundations,determination of pile length,the effect of earth fill in large area,some measures to be usedfor avoiding excess horizontal displacement.Pile load tests,driving of actual piles and settlementmeasurement of pile foundations are also reported.According to the settlement data,it is shown thatthe total and differential settlements are well below the designed values and hence it is evident thosesolutions adopted in the pile design are suitable and reasonable.
