Abstract
A new technique of retaining structure——Arch Trough Retaining Wall formed by mixed cement-soilpiles is introduced. It can retain both earth and water, with small displacement. It was used firstly at home and abroad. This method was applied in a drainage main of Jiangsu Road Pumping Station, Shanghai. The depth of excavation is 9 m. And its cost is much less than the continuous concrete wall. Therefore, it is deserved to recommend this structure. Some measurements from this project are also presented. They should be useful for design and construction.
