Computation of Pile Head Stiffness

  • In mest current methods for computation of pile head stiffness, pile is supposed to be rigid. In this way, the error is small when the pile is short, but it involves a remarkable error when the pile is long.A new method to compute the pile head stiffness with the load transfer method is proposed in this paper. With this method,the compressibility of pile, as well as the property of layered soil and variations of pile section can all be considered conveniently.The variations of pile head stiffness with the variations of pile length, pile diameter and elastic modulus of the material of pile shaft are discussed.The computed results are compared with the measured value satifactorily.
