Experimental Studies on Stability of Frozensoil Retaining Walls

In order to introduce the freezing method into maintenance of deep foundation pits , a series of modelling tests are conducted on the stability of frozensoil retaining walls. Detailed discussion is made on the relationship between the deformation of the  walls on the  one hand and their geometry and mean temperature, the lateral pressures on them and time of loading on the other hand . On this basis, a number of calculation equations are derived and a conclusion is reached that, under certain circumstances, it is feasible and practicable to build frozensoil walls to maintain the foundation pits.
