Based on the disturbed concept theory,a new constitutive model is presented. In this model, electrical resistivity anomaly, which can be obtained conveniently, economically and practicably,is taken to define and measure the disturbed variable. The traditional methods measuring the disturbed variable may thus be optimized. In addition, the volumetric strain disturbance effect is taken into account in this model, and a disturbed function is established by use of the test results. The form of this model is relatively simple, and model parameters can be easily gained. Results from undrained triaxial shear tests show that this model can well describe the stress-strain characteristics of soft clay.
