The shear, compression and seepage characteristics of coal wastes are studied by direct shear tests, compression tests and seepage tests. Several points are selected at the foot and the middle of coal wastes slope, and the test results of those points are compared. The dispersive characteristics of the shear strength of coal wastes slope are given. The pushing shear stress and direct shear stress are compared, and the modified ratio is given based on the results by the pushing shearing tests. The compression and seepage characteristics are also obtained. It shows that the seepage characteristics of the coal wastes is dispersively smooth in the whole coal wastes.
