By use of the triaxial creep loading device for gas-containing coal developed by the authors, a creep experiment is carried out. According to the experimental results, the variation of axial deformation under different stress states is studied, and the creep failure characteristics of gas-containing coal under different confining pressures are analyzed. The experimental results are analyzed by the seven-component nonlinear viscoelasto-plastic creep model (Hohai model), and the creep materail parameters are attained. It is indicated that creep constitutive relation of gas-comtaining coal can be expressed by the nonlinear viscoelasto-plastic creep model correctly.
