Experimental study on lateral influence of embankment construction on piles in soft clay

Based on in-situ test,the original data of the piled bridge abutment before and after the embankment construction were obtained.The bending moment of piles were calculated before and after embankment construction.The results indicated that before constructing the transitional roadbed the bending moment was produced in piles and would increase along with the increase of height of the transitional roadbed and it stopped to increase after the embankment construction was finished.The results are helpful to understand the lateral influence of piles.
