Usually the transducers are indiscriminately used to measure stress in soil and pressure on wallsurface in civil engineering test. The formulae of matcherror in these two circumstances are derived and the differences in design principles, computing methods and ranges of error, stress field and disturbed zone of these two kinds of transducer are expounded in this paper. The purpose is to avoid the incorrect use of transducers in measurement of stress in soil and pressure on wallsurface.
