A one dimensional geosynthetic reinforced foundation model with non linear spring support

More Information
  • Published Date: January 22, 1998
  • This paper presents a one dimensional geosynthetic reinforced foundation model with hyperbolic spring support representing non linear soft soil reaction. The mathematical expressian of this model is a set of two non linear ordinary differential equations.A finite difference iteration procedure is suggested for solving these two differential equations. This paper focuses on the influence of one normalised parameter in the normalised hyperbolic equation for springs on the settlement and mobilised tension force in the geosynthetics. The suggested model may be used as a basis for considering more complexities such as elasto plastic behaviour of sand and elasto plastic interface behaviour between the geosynthetics and the sand.
