The distribution of joints in rock masses is characterized by uncertainty. To discuss this feature, the present paper has set up a computer method for simulating joint network in rock masses. Non uniformity, directivity, and zonation in joint distribution are considered in this method. An unstable stochastic process is used to simulate the joint spacing, and an artificial joint network is generated by means of Monte-Carlo method. Finally, an example of simulation is given.
