Causes and processing methods for quality defects of soft foundation reinforcement using CFG piles

  • The CFG pile composite foundation has many advantages, so it has been widely used as the common foundation treatment. However, it has been carefully used in soft foundation reinforcement because of the high demand of the construction technology for soft clay. Based on a project case of soft foundation treatment using CFG piles in Wuhan, the reason of the pile integrity problems is analyzed, and the solving methods are proposed. The studies show that it shall be better to optimize the construction technology according to the change of geological conditions under different local conditions in the process of the CFG pile construction in soft soil area, and earthwork excavation scheme should be subtilized to prevent the shear damage at pile end. The research results have significant reference to the application of CFG piles in soft foundation.
